New laptop needed, budget around £500

I’ve had my present laptop for a very long time and feel now might be the time to buy a new one.
I usually buy Dells but am open to suggestion.
They have one with an i3 processor and 320 HD for £429 at present. I’ve been told an i5 processor would be better for editing my video films – any views?
Also should I look for a larger HD, I see some have 500.
Any suggestions on best buys would be much appreciated. Thank you.

to be honest you will struggle to get a decent i5 for £500. Regards your comment on editing films yes the i5 is better for this however its not just processor dependent. You need to see what graphics card the laptop has if its just one of the on board intels to be honest they arent great. Best to look to see if you can get something with independent graphics card for example an ATI one that way its not using your RAM and slowing other things down. Ebuyer have this to be honest I think would be good for what you want I cant post a link as im new tho but search for product code 195974
in their quickfind its a HP-G72
10£ more than you wanted tho0
