Not at the moment, but more and more they will be, mainly for the memory addressability.

Im kind of just hijacking this thread because im also looking for a basic laptop sub-£400 for the parents - some of the software i use at work won't run on 64-bit systems so I was just wondering if Windows7 only ran on 64-bit systems. Completely unrelated to the OP sorry!!!

As an alternative option what do you think to this?

A Packard Bell Easynote TK37-AV-010UK. Its £369 down from £499 at Currys. Its got memory of 4gb but not to sure on all the other spec.

Yeah x64 is compatible with most x86 software

Terrible. It'll break within a year I'd imagine.
