OU StudentHome Slow To Update??

Options
Morning All :)

I have had emails overnight from The OU telling me my finance application has been processed and I have been awarded full payment, however I need to log into studenthome on the OU site to finish my registration and confirm my place on the courses, I have logged in and nothing has changed within the individual modules it is still saying "Your application for finance was received on 25th November 2010"

Does it usually take a day or so for all this to upfate itself? Would I be beng a bit premature telephoning them?

Thanks in advance :)

  • Yeah it does take a day or so to update. I found the "accepting registration" online a bit glitchy, especially as i was accepting more than one course. Its easier to do it over the phone x

I agree, it's far easier to do it by phone.

They tend to update it overnight so it's usually the next day you see any changes.
  • Thanks guys :) It was the next day when it all updated properly to accept the registration I basically had to re-register for the courses it was a bit strange TBH.

I need to ring the finance department today I have been awarded £1110 fee grant but it leaves a shortfall of £90 so I cant complete registration for my third module until I raise the £90 and it has to be done before 22nd December perfect timing :(

I did read in the finace application form though that if you qualified for the full package as I did then they would cover any shortfall in fees so I am a bit confused, going to give them a ring I do feel a bit cheeky asking though TBH I have qualified for quite a lot of funding I was not expecting already, I will give them a ring and see what they say, if I have to cover this last £90 I really cannot grumble :)
  • Right managed to get through to them I do have to pay the £90 as said before I cannot grumble about this as I have been awarded a lot more than I though I would be, shame about the timing though deadline 22nd December :( Oh well I am sure it will turn out to be the best 90 quid I have spent is a long time :)

The advisor could not give me ankind of answer though I told them in the application it stated "Additional support is available to students whose chosen course of study exceed the maximum level of fee grant. For students who qualify for a full award, the difference between their fee grant and the course fees will be fully met" as all the advisor said is "there is no extra funding available" but it sayd nothing about it being dependant on extra funding in the notes??? Confusing to say the least...................................

Anyhow will need to do some head scratching to raise the 90 quid wrong time of year as said with 3 lovely children all monies between now and christmas have already been well and truly spent :( Lol could be worst a lot worst :)

If anyone has any experience in this kind of a shortfall I would appreciate your input
