We put ours on as we boarded the flight and took them off when we got to the hotel...
I'm not 100% certain but the whole part of them is to help circulation whilst sat still for long periods of time... so as soon as you are moving around again you don't need them as much... I'm sure the packet they came in will have instructions for you... Sorry can't help anymore0 -
I tried bbots for these yesterday and they said they don't have them in at the moment as people don't travel so much this time of year. how cheeky! Any suggestions on where I can get them from?
I've read a few links too but if anyone has a particularly good one on avoiding dvt please add it here as I had a clot last year when pregnant so want to do everything I can. Already take one low dose aspirin per day now so hoping that makes a difference too
thanks

Hi Keri...
Try Boots or Ebay0 -
Hi
Went to Australia last year. It was our fist long haul, I put mine on when I got in my seat on the plane (cant remember now if that is what the instructions said!!). I also put on a pair of cheap slippers from Asda (slip on type) as shoes always seem to make my feet swell. So had a comfy time & no swelling. I also drank plenty of water which you can get freely on long hauls, & got up for a walk every hour to back of the plane & even up and down the aisles, dont be affraid to do it as I was supprised at the amount of people that did.
As flutterby said you should get the instructions in the pack , or try internet search for long hauls, as I am sure I found plenty before we went on our trip.
good luck & enjoy.0 -
OOOps forgot to say we got our socks from ebay.:D0

When I went to Vietnam we bought our socks from ebay and they were much cheaper than from the shops. We put them on in the loo's just before we got on the flight. After we came back I washed them and put them back on ebay. They ended up costing hardly anything at all after that.
Does anyone know if I'll need them when I go to Egypt? It's a 5 hour flight.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040 -
Hi black-saturn
It is advisable to wear them when you will be sat for long periods of time with little movement... even if it's just a car journey etc...
What have you got to lose from wearing them? esp if you have them already0 -
I'll be using them when i fly to Egypt, but then as I said I'm in a higher risk group, dont think OK will be bothering. Agree with flutterby though, its hardly going to hurt is it
