Memory foam mattresses

Hi all, hope someone can help. We got a sleepshaper memory foam mattress a few months ago. Within a month we noticed severe softening on one side about halfway down the bed. The mattress always recovered to its normal shape but if I sat at various points around the bed, this particular area offered no support at all.
Went back to shop and they eventually replaced it. Magic.
Now the new one is doing the same. (after a few weeks of use).
My wife has one of those bags of wheat which you microwave (like a hot water bottle but wheat inside), and i'm wondering if this may cause it, but to be honest theres not really all that much heat in it.

Does anyone have any experience with sleepshaper?

Granted, it was not an expensive mattress, but I would hope to get more than a month out of it.

Thanks for any info!

Is the soft spot in the area where you wife puts the heat bag?

You shouldn't really use hot water bottles or electric blankets with memory foam. Memory foam needs your body heat to soften it closest to your body. Then the memory foam that isn't close to your body will stay firmer, which is how it provides excellent support.

When you let the mattress cool down, then it should be just as firm all over.

Can I use a hot water bottle or electric blanket?
We would not recommend the use of hot water bottles or electric blankets as they reduce the effectiveness of the memory foam.
There's no sense crying over every mistake.
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

What they say on there about using electric blankets etc.. is correct but very brief.

However many of the other things thay say are just foam only mattress sales propoganda.

Didn't bother reading the rest of it to be honest.

thanks for that, i think the affected area may be where the heat bag is. With the first mattress, the softening of that one localised spot was still apparent over 6 hours after we'd got up.

Think we may have to get a memory foam duvet to keep us cosy this winter. :D

Stop using the heat bag, or any other form of heating, and see if the mattress improves over the next few days. If it doesn't then it may be beyond repair.
