Im with the TSB and on the 1st November they will be charging me £30 Overdrawn excess fee and £35 for an unpaid direct debit = £65.00. I cannot afford to pay this. Do i have to definitely pay these charges ? ive been overdrawn before and they have charged me, but this time i simply cannot pay. Does anybody have any advice.

I take it you've gone into the branch & asked for them to be refunded & they've declined - you can't stop them applying the charges to your account. All you an do now is follow the instructions given on this site about reclaiming the charges.
To avoid them in the future, as you know when your dd's are going to come out if you know that you won't have the funds to meet them, CANCEL the relevant d/d & arrange to pay the company some otherway, at least it'll stop the £65 etc - when you're back on your feet financially, you can always reset up the dd's if you wish0 -

These charges are 'unlawful' because they bear no relation to the actual costs incurred by TSB.
If you are in financial difficultly go talk to citizens advice.
If you have incurred lots of bank charges in the past, follow the guide on this and other sites about reclaiming all your money. It is your money - the bank only had the right to take enough to cover their costs, which was probably no more than £5 in this case not the £65 they charged you.
Good luck.
R.Smile, it makes people wonder what you have been up to.

Get in touch with your bank. Whether or not it helps and they offer to drop the charges, I don’t know. Maybe you can get a (small) overdraft, to stop these things happening in the future.
But it’s better to write to TSB, then to post here.
Nobody here has any authority over TSB’s decisions.0 -
