Oh I love this, I have had my fair share of disasters too...

Repeatedly growing up, toaster under grill, oven gloves on top of grill me half asleep and burnt gloves. Think I destroyed about 3 pairs like that.
Put Christmas pudding in microwave on year at mums, didnt know i was meant to take the lid off cue... exploding chrsitmas pud inside microwave.
I have a tiny half inch gap both sides of my cooker so as you can imagine that is a spot which forever has things disappearing into it. Like the black hole in my kitchen.
Potato and leek soup... wall paper paste.
Silicone muffin tray - didnt realise how it would hold the heat - burnt fingers.

    The best ever tho was my mum;
Once she burnt her hair on holiday using a low level grill leaving her with no fringe on every holiday pic.
Then there was the new oven, she has another one now. New kitchen built in, new oven, extractor unit and light above oven very fancy.
Until she put the grill on and it melted the light. High level grills and extraction units do not mix lol

OMG it has taken me hours (over a couple of days) to read all of these and how I have laughed!!

Even the kids are getting fed up with the constant outbursts of hysteria coming from my direction. They come and look at the laptop and think I am laughing at the scared smiley, and the laughing one, then they laugh too :D

I will try to think of some of my disasters...

Not one of mine, but my uncle put an unopened can of curry in the microwave and strangely enough it exploded.

One of my girlfriends on a serious money saving mission decided to turn off the pilot light on their gas central heating as worried about how much gas that little flame was using. Then couldn't relight it, had to pay an engineer to come out and it turned out their whole system was pretty well knackered and ended up costing a small fortune to sort out:eek:
There is no issue so small that it can't be blown out of proportion

not realising how much pearl barley swelled - beef and pearl barley casserole for weeks after!
cooking creme brulee and managing to pour liquid caramel over my hand - trip to the burns clinic, and the bloody stuff had SET on my hand and arm as I'd put it straight under cold water......
Believing that Pyrex is pretty indestructable. Nope, I've smashed 2 dishes, one of which flew shards into my eye - back to A&E again.....

Um... Really think you should avoid A&E by removing yourself from the kitchen...! Owwww!!

reminds me of the time my mum bought melamine plates...........and put them in the warming rack next to the grill....................lmao...........she was probably doing burgers which spent at LEAST 15 minutes in the grill.....they were like hockey pucks! shouldnt laugh, but mum thought meat wasnt cooked unless it was black on the outside - and preferably on the inside too!
  • Hi

First time I made bagels I put in a tsp instead of a tbsp of yeast. They were edible but bit flat. The next batch were huge and lovely. Now I have a separate tbsp for yeast/bread making.

The gap at the sides of the cooker:eek::eek: so much veg and other things went down there. Thankfully my new cooker is fitted to the cupboards and no gaps.:j:j

Years ago I decanted some sloe gin into an empty Ribena bottle which still had the Ribena label on as it was the only empty bottle I could find at the time. Unfortunately some relatives helped their 7 year old son to a generous drink of Ribena in my absence from the house and couldn't understand why he kept zonking out on the carpet and being totally incoherent.
