Retention given on property im seling

Hi All,

Just over a year I bought a flat in need of work with a mortgage. The flat was valued by surveyor used by mortgage lender and in the report, surveyor mentioned slight movement however not progressive and in line with age of building.

Just over a year later with the property on market after i've carried out light refurb, same surveyor visits from same company giving a full retention due to progressive movement.

Im really annoyed with this as the sale has fallen through and why did the surveyor state when i bought it last year that movement was not progressive whereas now it is just over a year later.

Had i known the movement was progressive, I would not have proceeded with the purchase.

Maybe a year ago there was no sign the movement was progressive but now there is.
