Who would have to pay for burst pipes?

  • If it helps to reassure you, my old house was left empty with no heating all through last winter with the snow and cold weather and the pipes were fine.

We phoned our vendor and asked him to leave the heating on as the property is vacant between exchange and completion. When I inspected pre-contract this had taken place.

Nevertheless we have the property insured. I'm now more worried about damp from snow piled up against the brick walls and meltwater getting under the front and back doors; but nothing I can do about that.
