...and needs to close"

I seem to get this problem 4/5 times a day but have no idea why! I rebuilt my laptop recently (XP Pro/IE 6) and so have, presumably, a clean system!

Any suggestions? Am thinking of going back to Firefox...

    Have you got all the latest updates for IE6? You should be on SP2.

    in the error message, can you get further details?
    If so there might be a file mentioned that ends in .dll, might be a plug in that is causing the problem

    Can't answer your question but since using IE7 for a couple of weeks I have not had that problem at all so maybe something has improved in the new version.

    What pages are you accessing when this happens? could it be support for certain media files it is lacking?

    I would suggest giving your system a quick scan with Spybot Search&Destroy - http://www.safer-networking.org/
