Leaking wc waste pipe

Hi looking for some advice. Started decorating bathroom and noticed wall at back of wc damp. Discovered major ish leak on old lead pipe at back of wc which goes into a cast iron branch. All of the pipe needs replaced. Its wear and tear and not covered by insurance.
Have had a couple of plumbers out. One has recommended removing branch and part of cast iron pipe which goes outside and refitting with either cast iron or plastic parts. Another has recommended using plastic pipe stuff from wc to branch, just to replace lead pipe then seal/mastic and denso tape.
Its a newish wc that was fitted a cople of years ago and the new fitting is the white plastic stuff and goes into lead pipe. So would it be ok to replace this with longer length?
The latter is quite a bit cheaper by almost £300 but I'm not sure how long it will last and whether it is false economy if I have to rip bathroom apart in a couple of years to fix it properly then.

Hi,
I assume the leak is in the bathroom and not within the wall?
Unless there is a problem with the cast iron outside, or the lead in the wall, then I don't see why the lead can't be cut back to the wall and replaced by an Multiquik pan connector into an extension m'quik.
IMO Denso is just a bodge.

Once you cut the lead back fluh with the wall your at the point of no return, while denso can be seen as a bodge it would probably outlast the lead!!
From expereince (in Edinburgh) most lead soils vary in size and theres times where either a 3 1/2 or 4" pan connector does not form a secure joint, Forming a socket in the end of the lead often splits the leadHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. I think there is more than one leak. Think pipe is basically rotten and full thing needs replaced. Couldnt be seen from bathroom as it's between the outside wall and plywood finish in bathroom. So not seen from bathroom. However depending on access from back of wc some brickwork may need to be removed to cut back lead pipe. Or may have to be done from the outside wall. The water!!!! from the waste has been leaking down into the cellar, for what looks like some time.
Dont know if lead pipe in wall is ok but possibly not as its approx 100 years old. Same pipe from when flat built.
The branch is ok but some plumbers have said this will need replaced as can't remove the lead pipe from it.
Heard plumber say something about 4 inch.
Think guy with cheap option and Denso was using the multiquick as well. He said something about putting pipe inside and it seals to the outer pipe (sorry thats as technical as I get). He would then use denso and or mastic to make sure it is sealed.
Some said this was a bodge job and whole thing including branch and some pipe outside needs replaced along with lead pipe.
Hope this makes sense. Thanks0 -
plastic soil pipe is cheap stuff. i would replace the whole lot.Get some gorm.0
