What kind of worktop is it?Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Depends on what the worktop will be used for, but i think most paints would not be hard wearing enough and would chip.
Personally I would just replace the worktop. Ive done just exactly that in my utility room - you can get 3metre worktops for £35 from B&Q and other DIY places. I just bought a length of wood effect worktop and replaced the old worktop. At that price it was not much more than the cost of paint and whilst I dont expect the worktop to last a million years, it made the whole room look miles better.0 -
its for a kitchen at work, the cost of a new worktop is not a problem, the main problem it will have to join up with an existing right angle one so there fore would need to get hold of a rauter & jig & also the skill to do the join0

Metal joining strips could be used rather than router; a cheap worktop with joining strips would look better than an expensive one that's been painted straight away.
And after 2 days use the painted will look dreadful0
