Wight Cable 2005 acquired OMNE Communications in 2004 and renamed it Wight Cable North so that people don't get confused.

I have just been on to BT to a very nice, helpful lady, who sorted this out for me straight away. I have posted on here because others might not be aware that you get charged for a duplicate statement as well. I didn't recieve my last bill, and rung up to ask for one - hence finding out on my bill there was a charge, but that meant I paid my bill late (can you see a pattern here). Anyway as I said the lady refunded it for me, as well as setting up a direct debit over the phone.0

Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

Are those saying it is legal sure? It is legal to make a charge to cover administration fees etc but whether it is legal to charge that amount given the short timescale they demand payment in I'm not so sure. I wonder what the laws regarding unfair T&Cs would make of it?0

Since then the time allowed has reduced and reduced.
I am on benefit and have been paying every 4 weeks for the last 6 months.
You used to be asked to pay within 10 days then reminder came out on 14 days after the bill so you had 19 days to pay.
Two months ago it changed to 7 days to pay reminder after 10 days so even though my payment was 4 weeks after the previous one it attracted £5 penalty.
I am told that the reduction in time to pay is because of my late payment record and that if another 3 payments aren't made by the due date then the £5 penalty will be added on the due date ie seven days after the bill is issued.

BT are trying to force everyone on to DD.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

Have you ever tried living on £56 a week ?0 -
what I was trying to find out is whether the charge was legal. I don't have another option as there is no cable here and every provider I have spoken to either demands DD or does a credit check. As a bankrupt that makes life a bit hard.
With all the talk about bank charges being unlawful because they do not reflect the actual cost, I was wondering if this charge was the same.
After all the bank has the charges in their terms and conditions too, but from what you read on here that hasn't stopped people successfully challenging their legality.0 -
cant you just ring 150 and select the billing option, it lets you put a date in that you'll be able to pay the bill i done it in August and didnt pay till the 24th sept i didnt get charged anything extra0

£45 a month is expensive.
Have you tried using 1899 for most of your calls?
I have reduced my BT bill to around £40 a quarter plus my broadband at £14.99 a month and under £2 a month on calls through 1899. This brings my quarterly total to ... £90.97. Working out at ... £30.33 a month
I used to have telephone bills in excess of £100 plus broadband.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........
