One big problem with sinks in the islands is the waste water. The pipes have to go under the floor, but that may put them too low for the existing drains, and relaying those is a big job.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

The space'd make a great larder cupboard for one.
My mother's got a corner fridge - pretty much eaxctly like that first one you linked to. Might even be that one.
She also has another fridge in the scullery (-:...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

What a sensible idea. Corner cupbpoards are always the terratory of the underused and long lost gadget and pan.
Gimickery, a bit. There is still an awful lot of wasted space there unless the cupboards next to them widen out past the door into the space left either side of the drawers, iyswim. Most of the ones pictured can't, because there are drawers in the units next to it.
I'm old fashioned about corner units. They are indeed the very valuable space where you put the expensive gadgetry that you never use. In my house that's balti dishes, umpteen ramekins which come in handy for a large dinner party every other year, and the bread makerEverything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I've never been round anybody's for a proper meal, and never had anybody round either. Do you really believe that the 15 minutes you MIGHT spend cooking and wishing to chat outweighs the benefit of having a clear/clean/large space available for all activities?
Really? Never? How come?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

I had our pipes put in really low when they were laid in winter. thinking ahead, but for a different reason.0 -
You have to think of things like that in terms of spend/time, not absolute spend. Thus the nasty cheap bag cost £10 for 2 months, which is £5/month. Suppose the new one lasts 10 months. That would be £25 for 10 months = £2.50/month. That makes it half the price of the nasty one. As long as it lasts more than 5 months, it is cheaper per month than the nasty one and you should feel virtuous and money-saving about it.
....
That was actually my reasoning when I was justifying it to myself in the shop.......:rotfl:We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

missed this till NDG linked it.
I spend more than fifteen minutes cooking. Some times of the year (jam making/juicing/) its all the day. Its this time I think having the view would really benefit me to be looking out through the window (though when cooking rather than prepping I'll have to look right).
And if I have the table there WILL be a large clear and clean space for activities.0 -

Firs the bats, then the fridge...I might turn into your mother when I'm grown up.0
