I was taking it as read that they shouldn't do it on public transport or anywhere else where it causes an annoyance to other people. I was just disagreeing with the article's conclusions as to why they do it in the first place.
well, i assume they do it because they want to listen to music, and they don't care whether or not it will annoy anyone else if they do so. trying to work out the reason they want to listen to music in the first place seems to me to be over analysing!
it's good that we all agree they should be lynched and then banished into permanent exile at the bottom of a mine shaft though.0 -

I don't know how people work in an office by themselves. I'd get bored
I'd get fed up. You're just stuck into a complicated bit when some idiot asks an inane question, and then you spend 10 minutes working out where you were. Then another idiot pipes up....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

Have your neighbours all made a Faustian pact?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

One set of neighbours in nearby residence: we're friendly and they are exceptionally wonderful. we maintain a relationship I couldn't have dreamed would be so good when we moved here by speaking only about once a fortnight.we do leave message for each other though sometimes.
Honestly, you can't choose neighbours as great as mine.

I don't think anyone has made a separate thread for this, but there was a corker in the Daily Mash yesterday:

You said you "didn't see a soul" so I wondered if you met people who'd sold their souls to the Devil, like Faust did....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
