It isn't colder here, yet! Forecast is for it to get a lot colder as the week goes on.

I think where I am has been really lucky with the cold spell. As michaels said earlier, the frosts have been fantastical experiences, making so muck look so pretty! We were blessed by relatively little snow. Compressed snow did mean some quite thick ice, which was treacherous, but that all went by friday evening pretty much.

Jellyland is metaphorically blazing with sunshine at the moment.:) My team won at the weekend, & last night I saw James and they were absolutely great! I was really happy that they played a lot of songs I haven't heard for quite some time! Absolutely loved it!

Nearly finished that huge Simon Schama book too...:)

It's very damp and misty this morning, LIR. That always makes me feel cold. The sun is just beginning to break through the mist right now. We might still get some sunshine today.

Yes, it must be this. I think I might have just worked out that the condensation in my house is more related to rather than what I'm doing inside too...(heating/washing etc) which has been puzzling me. :o

No sun here, just grey dankness breaking through the mist :rotfl:. Bluerghhhh

without days like these there is no appreciating crisp clean frosts, sunny days etc, so I'm grateful for it for putting the rest in perspective. :)Just...why, on a washing day....why?:D

Ah, so your postcode is AB11 6DA? Must be nice living in the centre of town.

    Nice car though.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Sunny here, probably 3 degrees. I've got to start that Xmas shopping thing, but I have got a coat so I can go out - only thing is that then I realised boots would be nice too.

    Nope.

That's the postcode of a pub in the city centre. :D

I'm about a mile and a bit from there.

Sounds like jellyland is a fun place to be at the moment! Glad James were good. You like to see them lots in the same way that I want to go to every Swing Out Sister concert (phenomenal live).

I trust you're going to go for something a little lighter now you've finished Simon Schama. I'm trying something different for a change, a spot of Boris Akunin crime. Sue, if you're reading this, what do you think of him?

From painful experience, if there is any possibility of their being little MsK babies whilst you have the car a 3 door is not recommended.
AFAIK, the "blowing out the cobwebs" thing is a bit of a myth, from the bad old days when you could get carbon build up in the engine. Not really an issue with modern cars and fuel?

I see your point about city cars though, sometimes high wear on brakes etc. It's not really an issue up here because we're in rural areas. Not so much stop start city driving.

I'd agree that high miles motorway cars, particularly german diesel ex-fleet, are usually a good buy.

But a single owner car with good service records and long MOT that's done 5K miles a year or so wouldn't scare me.

Like this corolla for £1200 with 58K miles on it and a fresh MOT.

Lovely & cloudless here too and probably 6C in the yard right now, but we will pay at night.

Though my natural inclination would be to go for a side of a valley location, facing south or west, our position here at the top of the slope is so much better than where we were previously. Then, although the orientation was similar, the sun was hidden for much of the day behind buildings & trees and my poor greenhouse didn't see it at all from the end of November till the beginning of February. :(The result was that both of us had the winter blues.:(

My farmer friend, who's down on an idyllic site near the river, has already recorded -12C this winter. He's out in the sunshine though. There are many places down there, facing north and surrounded by woods, which never see sunshine for months. I'd think it's easy to buy them in summer time, with the dappled sunlight playing through the leaves, but I'll bet none of them go to locals! :rotfl:

    Definitely some lighter reading Viva!

I have 2 or 3, of which to go with I've not yet made up my mind quite yet. I would like to give Mark Kermode's "It's only a movie..." book a go after seeing his talk & meeting him.

I kinda feel I'll have a mini - relatively light reading phase, before having another jack the ripper splurge, possibly early in the new year.

James always do something different with each live show I see them do. & I always feel they sound better live than their albums - though I do love their albums. They played a few songs I haven't listened too in a while, & it was like meeting old friends. I need to revisit a couple of the albums.

Cloudy here - has been all day. Not a drop od sunshine (except for in my mind after the weekend I have had. More specifically, the sunday...:D)
