I am buying a new car from Land Rover next week. I live some 300 miles from the Land Rover dealer who has been communicating by phone/email.
What is the best/safest method to transfer the funds (£30k) ?
They are recommending CHAPS and have sent me the IBAN No. and ID CODE with the bank details etc.
thanks

Only prob with Chaps is bank will charge about £30, have you a bank debit card? transfer funds into current account and then use that card. Garage should be happy with that. That was the way I did it recently. Tell your bank about the large transaction to make sure they do not block it0

Be very careful with a debit card for this amount.
Banks will have a limit on the value of transactions per day of approx £30k. Some might be higher , some lower.
Have a plan B - TAKE plenty of identification with you in case you need to go to a branch of your bank to do a CHAPS payment.0 -
1. Completely verify the existance of the company.
2. Pay the first £1 on a credit card for section 75 protection (assuming the total purchase is not in excess of £30k). More if you have a cashback/reward credit card and they don't charge a fee for acceptance!
3. CHAPS the rest.0 -
Sound advice thanks.0
