*Sigh* Would love a baby ...

Eeek! I'm getting those broody feelings! Hubby and I have been talking about babies and it looks like we'll be trying in around 24 months (see, I'm on countdown already!)

Being responsible, and not having to go on a DMP or similar means we really can't afford one before this time as we want to be 80% (at least) debt free

Just wanted a lil rant, I want babies and want them now!! lol

lol I'd say waiting until you're almost debt free is very wise.

My DS is 19 days old and living off maternity pay is hard enough, so coping with a debt on top of that would make it even harder! Babies aren't actually that expensive though as most stuff can be bought cheaply off ebay, and borrowed/donated from relatives.

See it as part of your goal!
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

I second what Pinkshoes has said ive really struggled with debts and bringing up kids i got my mortgage when my daughter was 6 months old but didnt think it would be harder but once we were in the house eveything that could go wrong did so i borrowed more

Fast forward 11 years and 2 more children and im finally compleatly debt free and expecting my 4th baby (the one we thought we would never be able to afford) and looking forward to our first holiday abroard as a family next year xx

Dont get me wrong i love my family to bits but just sometimes i wish i had bought a house a good few years before i had my children x
It is better to stay silent and be thought a fool, than to open one’s mouth and remove all doubt. :p

Of all things we give a child, our words must be carefully wrapped.

wipe 2 pots of yoghurt down your trousers and splash a bit in your hair wander around the house with a pack of felt tips and colourin in each wall around knee height...

stay up for 3 nights in a row watching baby einstein or cbeebies leave bottle of milk under the sofa and empty a box of building blocks/plastic animals on the floor turn the lights out and take your shoes off and run towards the phone.

you may just think - 24months is not long enough.... ;)

Babies are like kittens and puppies, lots of people want a baby, but disapointed when their baby grows into a monster. Get a kitten instead.

Smear milk on your shoulder, forget about it and walk around in it all day, do this to all your tops.

Set your alarm clock to wake you up between 1.5 and 3 hours through the day and night for the next 6 months to 3 years. Alternatively, hit yourself in the face with a sledgehammer for the same effect.

Start singing hannah montana/in the night garden/bob the builder theme tunes....a lot. Come to realise that these songs will haunt you! Find yourself singing them while out shopping...without the children.

On christmas day, stay up til 3am assembling a child's bike whose instructions are only in chinese. Get to bed at 4.30am and set your alarm to wake you up at 5am.

Only kidding, it's tough but incredibly rewarding. Good luck! x
  • haha!

Loving the comments - makes me smile :D

I've got kittehs - Love 'em!

I'm the oldest of 9 too - So I'm used to all the baby-esque stuff :)

I shall start my countdown in Jan ;)
  • My tip to you would be to fit in every thing you want to do between now and when you plan your baby.

No matter how much you do, there will always be more things you wish you had fitted in.

Go out, date your partner, enjoy all the time you have together.

When baby comes along remember, they grow up and very quickly. You might have that wonderful cute first year, but after that there is no longer a baby, but an independent mind, it is rewarding, but it is exceptionally tough.

I often think that if they let you know what it would be like and give you a snap shot of your life with kids, that some might opt not to go ahead.

This isn't to put a downer on it, having children is wonderful. It can also be very tough!
  • how refreshing to see someone doing it the right way round lol!

No offence to anyone there, we too did my 1st up to our necks in debt, number 2 we were half way to paying it off, number 3 sent us to another 30k on the mortgage as we had to move to a bigger home, and this one we are expecting now is due on my debt free date lol
    yayyyyyy

TBH the less stress you have when preg/a new parent the better, so paying off most of your debts 1st would be a massive stress lifted from you. All the sleepless nights, sick etc will be stressful enough... oh and if you ever wanted a practice run you could always borrow my brood for a weekend lol :)
