Hi,
Can Council Officials, i.e. from Council Tax office in Scotland, come to visit at home without telling first of intentions to visit. Not about arrears.
Thanks

I see no reason why not. whether you let them in or not is up to you."The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."

It depends what its with regards to (no law says they have to make appointsments) - if it's to review discounts/exemptions then un-announced visits can be made to check the property as othwerwise the more unscrupulous people can defraud the system more easily whereas if its someone from the Scottish Assesors Office then they would likely maek appointments to view the property.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0

That post was one of the funniest I've read in a long time - loved it!"Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?" (Douglas Adams)0 -
