Hi
I was wondering if anyone can help me, i went on holiday to cuba a month ago and purchased a trip on my credit card through a chip and pin machine, the trip got cancelled so when to came to a refund it was done by a manual credit card machine ( the old fashioned way swipe my card onto payment slip), it has been a month now and was just wondering how long i should expect to wait for a refund as i will soon face a credit card charge for the payment still being on my card?
sorry for long post hope someone can help

It should only take a few days.
Did you keep a copy of the slip?
I would query it with the card company.
Was it over £100?0 -
yeah i kept the slips, the way it was done was i payed for two trips on my card originally, then both trips were refunded manually and then i was charged for the one trip i went on and that has now showen up on my card but not the refund, i phoned the travel agency and they said it could take upto a month?0

Well if they said that then I'm pretty sure that is them holding it up.
There is no reason from the mastercard/visa end why a refund can't be done straightaway.
They could have internal procedures (like manager authorisation) that take time, but it's nothing at all to do with the credit card system, it's simply that company not putting your refund through very quickly.
You could ask your credit card company if they can do a chargeback.
Have you called them and asked them if they can help?0 -
I have spoken to my card company and they said i can dispute the charge but i have to have proof that i have tried to get help from the travel agent but it was them that said to wait a month and then go in and they then have to go through there head office which i think may take a while. I just think its funny that the second charge has gone through but not the refund yet and the charge was for £2000
