I was putting some duvets away and the vacuum pack bags that I normally use have mostly split. Just wondering how other OS-ers store spare duvets?
Mine were vacuum packed, under bed things. Would like something that lasts a good few years too please.

Probably not what you were after but I did see some of those vacuum bags for sale in my local pound shop just the other day. A damn sight cheaper than the first JML ones I bought! I've not picked any up yet but when I do i'll let you know if they're any good.My mortgage costs me a sobering £13.06 A DAY!:mad:That's about 5 pairs of shoes a month i'm missing out on! :eek:0

Thevacuum things always split on me. I wouldn't bother with them again. I've tried underbed plastic boxes (needs to of you an a roll of duct tape to secure) but now we have space I have returned to trunks and blanket boxes for extra bedding. (what s not piled up in beds.) and some soap or something in the trunk to keep it less musty.0

You might want something "posher" than this but I've used a black bag before and put it in the loft!!!
Well, its about the cheapest if nothing else.0 -
Is there anything here? I'll merge this later, unless I can find a better thread:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0

I have a large storage bag from Ikea, about £3.50, It holds a spare double quilt, bedding and a sleeping bag... Its got a half zip on it, only had it a few months so they should still be for sale.
They don't vacuum down though9/70lbs to lose0 -
I've never had much joy with the vacuum bags, tbh. Whenever I've used them for one thing or another, they have split under any pressure and just inflate again. When we bought a new bed, we bought one of the lift up ones for maximum storage underneath the mattress and we store them under there. That said though, we haven't switched to a thicker duvet this year, just added a blanket on top.

Not very OS but the last time I had my duvet cleaned, it was returned in an enormous zipped bag - like a sports bag. Job done! New dry cleaners dont have these bags so I have saved it specifically for this. Check which ones do it in your area.0

I hang mine over the rafters in the attic, inside some very old duvet covers to protect them from dust. I do the same for sleeping bags. It's not good to store either compressed as the filling compacts over time and loses the abilit to spring back and fluff up.Val.0

A bit wasteful but........ I buy a cheap and cheerful new one each winter (almost as same as the dry cleaning bill) and then let my cat have the old one which I cut into smaller pieces and use as bedding (again, thowing the pieces away when they get too manky).
M&S does a good budget range which I've used for the past couple of years now:

I'll get my coat.
