Buying a real Xmas Tree online, what are my rights?

I ordered a real christmas tree online, the delivery company (TNT) was supposed to deliver it the next day. Unfortunately it has been snowing in the depot's area and here since so now the delivery won't take place until Saturday at the earliest.

I have emailed the christmas tree company and they have said that the "weather is out of their control" so if the tree turns up dead it's not really their problem and I won't get a refund.

Is this right?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

You don't actually know if the tree's dead though. It might be fine. They're pretty resilient.

Why on earth would your tree turn up dead?? I don't understand why a few days in a cold depot would kill a tree , does it have roots or is it sawn off? if its the latter it's dying anyway but will stay looking healthyish for weeks before the needles drop especially if its kept cold..

I've never had a real tree before, and the company sent me this email telling me I *have* to put it in bucket water when it's delivered. I assumed a week without water would not be very good for it?

If I'm wrong about that, sorry! If it's fine I'll be happy, I was just a bit worried because I spent a lot of money :P

I hope your tree's fine, jiggly. I suspect it will be. They might well have it in a bucket of water at the depot.

The tree was dead the minute it was cut down!

If you've never had a real tree before be prepared for the possibility that the tree will shed some of its "needles", and nothing to be worried about unless it sheds the whole lot!!

Although it's a very, very, very long time since I bought a real tree the then OH would carefully inspect any tree before purchase, often visiting several garden centres. Wouldn't have ever bought off the net had it existed then.

Dont do christmas my self, No decorations, No tree .

Plus wouldn't it be more fun actually going to a place that sells trees in person.

I thought the tre was dead anyway, snow what difference does a couple of days make?

On a lighter note my local garden centre - Frosts near Milton Keynes - is giving a guarantee that their cut christmas Trees will last until the 24th December..............

Surely the 25th would have been more appropriate?
