Hyperlinks

I keep noticing that people on here add links to sites, but the word on the link isn't the site name. For example, someone might say click Here, and when you do so you would be taken to another site, say bbc.co.uk. But the link is somehow stored under the word "Here". How is this done?

  • Type anywork or the full link then select it, then there is an icon that looks like a world with a tape in front of it. A script/popup appears with the type http:// then you fill in the rest of the url/web address.

For example Martin select Martin then hit the icon goble tape then enter the url http://www.moneysavingexpert.com then click ok. Then you have your link Martin

But I would have the full address then hyperlink it. So people can see the address.

Thanks folks - sorted it now. One of those thing I was just curious to know how to do.
  • I usually open a second browser window with the site that I want to link to and copy the address from the address bar.
Then, on the thread I want to post in, type the name of the site or "click here". Click the 'Insert Link' globe icon and paste the website address into the http:// field. This way, you cannot get a trypo in the address and it can save time when the address is long.

    :)

    1. Open Word
    2. In this example I want to make the word beeb link to the BBC’s website
    3. Using your mouse you highlight the word “beeb”
    4. Then you click on the icon that looks like a globe with a piece of chain in front of it. Hovering over this link will reveal the word “Insert hyperlink”
    5. When you click on the “Insert Hyperlink” icon a box will be displayed. In the box that is displayed you will see a field that says “Adress”. In that field you would type http:/www.bbc.co.uk and then click on ok. The word beeb is now converted to a hyperlink to the BBC’s website.
    6. Now you have to test it to see that it opens the website properly. To do this you right click on the word beeb and then select the option to “Open Hyperlink”. All should now be ok. But if it isn’t, then go to step 7.
    7. However, if you don’t see the option “Open Hyperlink” you will see another selection of options, one of which is “ignore all” and you should select this one. Then test again from step 6.
  • click here to go to this site

just trying...and done it cheers all
