Hi
My computer can no longer be started and has given up... so I need to buy another and I am going for a laptop this time.
I have taken the hard drive out of my old computer and when I buy the laptop will endeavour to transfer stuff over.
Now I have Norton Security (yes I can hear many groaning
) and it renews automatically every year and the dosh comes out of my bank account.
Now the new computer comes with a Norton offer of £29.99...ok 30 quid! When I'm moving data from my old computer can I also bring across the Norton Security to the new laptop?
If not and I take this offer, how do I stop Norton renewing automatically and taking the money out of my account?
I know it's a daft question and I'm sure the answer is simple

Tell your bank to stop the direct debit. Contact Norton via their website.0

Norton is a program not Data and will not transfer as programs have to be installed not copied only data can be copied . Saying that the norm would be to install Norton on new machine from Norton web site download and use your registered key to activate , You may be able to just use the old key straight into the new Norton trial . jje0

Don't use Norton/AVG (especially not the Free edition after the cockup that happened this morning/last night)
Just download Microsoft Security Essentials, its free, and pretty damn awesome. Paid for antivirus is like snake oil now imo.

That's a little strong! I agree paid antivirus is expensive, however Microsoft Security Essentials isn't supposed to provide anti-virus cover. They weren't allowed to as it's anti-competitive.0 -

I think Microsoft would disagree:

Microsoft Security Essentials provides real-time protection for your home PC that guards against viruses, spyware, and other malicious software.Stompa0 -
