new washing machine & fridge on finance? advice please

Hi there, I was hoping I might be able to get some great pointers/advice.

After several years of going through various 2nd hand washing machines htb and I are considering getting a new washing machine on finance. Our current one has broken down so I've been hand washing everything for the last few weeks (coupled with the weather this has left me with cracked and sometimes bleeding hands - not fun). htb would also like to get a new fridge whilst we're at it - we paid £40 for our current one and it acts like a freezer rather than a fridge, even only having it switched on intermittently doesn't prevent it from freezing and thereby destroying our food.

I've not bought anything on finance before - I prefer to buy things outright, but we just don't have the money to hand right now to buy either outright. Does anyone have any advice for me? I signed up with a month trial for which? (only £1 for the month, after which I'll cancel subscription) to get an idea of different machine quality. I'm now also scouting out for the best deals on hotukdeals, but I must admit I do feel a bit clueless right now.

new fridges less than a 100 quid and washing machines for 180 quid.
why on earth would you need expensive credit?
    Get some gorm.
  • Try as much as possible to avoid finance. If you can, see if a friend or relative is buying a new washer or fridge. Ask them for their old one, use it in the mean time and every month put away a the money you would have paid to the finance company in a kitty. When you have saved, look around for a good deal. Then pay outright. It's far much better and you won't have the burden of monthly payments + interest. If you like, calculate how much interest you would have paid then add that to your monthly kitty. At the end of your saving period, deduct the interest and treat yourself! :)

If youre shopping around have a look at the Dixons Website.

Evn though they are a sister company to Currys, i found my oven
£30 cheaper with Dixons and free delivery.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
