  • Hi all.
This is my 1st ever post and really need some help!!
I'm planning on buying my wife a new laptop but after hours of searching have got no further and probably confused myself even further.
We use the laptop for general surfing, photos, films, a few games and a bit of work now and again!!
I found this which I think looks ok ... Toshiba Satellite C650D-12J for £399.97 after a discount of £100 at Currys.
I heard Toshiba, Acer or Dell are pretty good??
Your recomendations will be greatly recieved. Many Thanks.
  • My general rule of thumb would be Asus > Toshiba > Samsung > HP > Acer

Price will dictate what you get. As long as you stick to

Pentium or Core i3/i5 (NOT Celeron)
    2Gb or more ram
    160Gb hdd or more

You shouldn't have any problems. £400 is a decent budget to get you a solid machine

You might be better starting a new thread rather than posting on this one

Wouldnt recommend a Toshiba due to heat problems (thought it might just be mine that was a problem but if you google it there is loads come up with similar problems)
Both my lads have Dells and they are as cool as you like ,mine is forever hot ,in fact just ordered a new un but gone for Dell
    Have a nice day :)
