Powergen on the run

I had moved from Powergen to another supplier which prompted a phone call from Powergen asking my reasons for moving. 'Money' I said, 'but if you want to make me an offer I might stay.' Immediately my monthly bill was reduced from £140 to £99 per month. Start haggling everyone - you never know what's on offer until you ask.

....but will that cover the amount of gas and electric you are using?
Don't get caught out by a big bill because of underpaying.

Powergen, or any other supplier for that matter, do not cut their rates when you complain. All they have done is lowered your direct debit payments. This will at best lower any credit you have on your account and at worse will put your account in debit, resulting in a big bill at some time in the future.

As everyone else has said already its only your DD that has changed - Its hardly as you put it 'a monthly bill' Its money you put towards your qtr'ly bill. The only way that amount would reduce is if you stop using as much.

There hardly on the run - Just lowering your payments as your new supplier would have done exactly the same thing.

Makes you think you have one over on them though:)

Many many people simply do not understand the concept of a Direct Debit, as this post illustrates perfectly.

I never cease to be amazed by the number of posts along the lines of:

"I have been paying £xx by DD for 3 years and suddenly its increased to £yyy - how can that be?"

I think it stems from their belief that a DD is something like a Hire Purchase agreement i.e. 12 payments of £xxx and you own the item.
