Comet are selling a lot of Acer laptops and they are good value for money.
  • Depends what you want it for, of course :). I remember DD saying that she had just bought a whizzo 3.2gh PC a while back. "That's good" I said "what do you want it for?".

"Oh mainly email and document editinG" she replied

"Oh" I said. "Why buy a Rolls when you only want a mini".

Seriously, I reckon you can buy a pretty decent Laptop for c£400 if all you want is internet browsing/email/document etc etc. That'll leave a good few bob for a present for the missus :)
  • I would recommend that you get a dual core Toshiba that is in the Toshiba Money Back offer. If your laptop fails in anyway, any compent then you send it to toshiba for them to fix it, you get your money back.
  • Ok im lookin at a dell that looks okay

    whats the best between these...

Intel® Pro Wireless 3945 802.11a/b/g Mini PCI Wireless LAN Card for Duo Processors [Included in Price]

  • 801.11n is still in the beta stage. If you have a Wireless-N router/gateway then take the chance and upgrade to the n, but 802.11n has not been certfied so it could cause problems.
  • *completely lost*

I dont have wireless yet but will be lookin at getting it just after xmas...

If the laptop has a intel Core Duo then you need to pick Dell Wireless 1500 Draft 802.11n Dual-Band Wireless Mini-Card, for Duo Processors.
