Bathroom (aka IgLOO) Heaters :p

My bathroom is an extension on the back of my two bedroom mid terraced house.
The temperature of the house without heating at the moment is around 12 degrees which isn't bad - reaches 20 with heating on.
Except for the bathroom - went down this morning and it's 2 degrees , put heating on and it only got to 7 after an hour and a half.
Thinking of getting a wall mounted heater, or is there anything else that would help. The radiator is a decent size and gets piping hot. Walls and floor fully tiled. All I've seen so far is a fan heater and a wall mounted heater in Argos.
It's like an IgLOO

Chances are if its a flat roof extension it will have poor insulation.
I guess a fan heater designed for bathroom use would be the best way of getting some instant heat in there, remember there are specific requirements on having electrical appliances in the bathroom.

Hi thanks for the link, its actually got a pitched roof on it.0

Can you access the roof space to check the insulation? I think the current recommendation is 10inches in old money. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

there is no access into this space - very annoying

Is it a single storey extension? Do you know how old it is? If its quite a few years old you can bet it has a low level of insulation in it. I would suggest you need to investigate (possibly lifting roof tile if single storey) and see whats underneath. If its poor quality insulation it will probably save quite a bit if you insulate it. Also it wont draw heat out of the rest of the house.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

If its your property I think you need to find a way to investigate whats above the ceiling because in the long term good insulation would save on your heating. Two possible routes in, (1) get a loft hatch put in or (b) lift some roof tiles.jostenning wrote: »its a single story but no loft hatchIT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

I've got the same problem in my house.
Our bathroom is the upper part of an extension with a flat roof and and while the rest of the house is cosy, the bathroom is arctic!
The hot water tank is in the bathroom inside a cupboard and we have a towel rail heater.
Would a wall mounted heater be our best option? It's horrible taking a shower in sub zero temperatures.'The only thing that helps me keep my slender grip on reality is the friendship I have with my collection of singing potatoes'
