What you really need is a treat to give yourself at the end of your chores, usually helps kick start me when I can't be bothered. Then when you sit down exhausted you can enjoy iy and rest happy knowing you have done everything you were planning on. Mine is usually something sweet

I do get days like that too but must say that they crop up less now since I discovered that I have an underactive thyroid and have been prescribed thyroxine.
There was a time when I really wondered what was wrong with me-felt tired most of the time . I was reluctant to go to the doctor but then had a routine NHS health check which included blood tests.0 -
OP, I get a fair few of these due to ill health. I'm in the middle of a few weeks of them.
I have animals, so come what may I get up v. early to let the birds out and feed dogs/horses etc. (the more they are out the less cleaning up there is inside and outside can wait if it has to).
I ensure everythinjg that NEEDS to be done can be done before 9 or 10 am. Then even if I get nothing else done I'm ok and not worrying/getting worse. Needs, are VERY different from wants.
Then I have another round in the afternoon, and evening, and then last thing at night befor ebed, but these are all lighter than the morning.
It doesn't matter how tired, lazy, sore whatever I am in the mornings, they define my day. Even when feeling great my most active time is pre ten am.
If dh is home and he lets me sleep in then experience shows the day is less productive and I feel worse, plus I feel guilty too.
Its also worth checking you are nutritionally ok and health is ok....''getting something;'' can leave you listless, and iron levels etc are worth looking at if its a regular thing.0 -
Thanks for the replies
I took the recycling and did the food shop. I have hemmed one curtains lining, so that was a start at least lol. Admittedly I did do a runner from the kitchen when I saw the washing up in the sink tho :P

I think that everyone has days like this.
Try not to be too hard on yourself.Sounds like you've got a lot to do.So why not choose one of these things and let that be enough for today.
When I'm going through a rough time,I try to write down three things that I have done in the day that I'm proud of.This could be as simple as:
1. Had a shower and brushed my hair.
2. Made the bed.
3. Got dressed..
(I have written these in the past, and felt it's been a good day).
We can't always set out to do everything we've planned. But we're not robots, after all.
Have an easy day.None of what you have to do is vital (except maybe sorting out lunch!).
Take care.0 -
You need to break all the jobs down into small manageable sized ones. Set yourself small targets, get one job started and completed and then move onto the next. What I am trying to do at the moment is get all my outside jobs done and out of the way before the weather turns. At the moment I am washing all of my curtains and getting those dry.
I work well by having a list and then crossing things off as I complete them. That is my biggest motivation, watching and crossing the things off and seeing the list get smaller. I only said to OH tonight that I will take my rest when winter finally sets in. He agreed with me and said that I will deserve it. So that is were I am working to and thinking ahead.
I know I need to get these jobs done and you know you need to do them to, but trying to do everything in one fell swoop is demoralising, so do your daily list and make it achievable and then if you have any time left over in the day you can add something else in!Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money:beer:

I get many days like this - and I normally just go out!!! Seriously - I'm on my own during the week with the children (eldest has autism) and dealing with them when they're squabbling and the cats and dog and the washing that they create does, more often than not, leave the house looking like several bombs have hit. Then I collapse on the sofa at nights! Nothing gets done! I like to give myself something to work towards - mostly its OH coming home on Friday nights, so I kick myself and get the place tidied; or it might be having people over.
This week my kick is us going on a camping holiday on Friday for a week. I SO don't want to come back to a dirty house that I'm planning a cleaning blitz tomorrow afternoon - with perhaps a ready meal for tea!! Failing that the 15 mins on 15 mins off approach works well - you'd be amazed how much you can get done!Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
I too have an underactive thyroid and find I can get really tired (even though I take Thyroxine).
I try to break chores down into manageable 'bites', then sit and have a cuppa for while. Must say I can't really relax knowing there are chores to be done though.
Put some uptempo music on your Ipad or radio, or even listen to Radio4 to divert the mind from boring chores. It does help.Normal people worry me.0 -

Hi everyone,
As we are getting towards the end of the year, I have started to think about new year resolutions. And top of my list is to be more organized.
How do you guys do it? I am a mum of two (8 years and 1 year) and I also work 3 days per week.
I have a calendar that I never check, lol. So I have nO clue why it is there. I seem to try to remember everything in my head!!
Our house gets in such a mess sometimes with working and looking after a very demanding 13 month old!! We eat well on my days off, but when I am working the good eating goes to pot.
We also need to start putting some savings aside.
How can I discipline myself to get everything in order??January GC £33/200
Christmas 2012 savings £600
