Aha...Hi there Ruby, I guessed after just sorting your total on the old thread that you'd be over here ready to get going again. Better luck this time....an no bust boilers or anything similar. You did exceptionally well though!
You're welcome YL. Well, I read your post through and it doesn't read anything different to me...aside from that, once you're in, you stay!!!Seriously, most folk want to stay as it's a good means of saving and certainly for the encouragement to do so, if it's ever needed.
With regards to a pot, the first one I used back in 2008 was a Drinking Chocolate carton, served the purpose until I had a Terramundi given me - and I certainly will never be smashing that, even though they.....advise it. :rotfl::rotfl:They must think we're wishing to give money away. Use anything for now or, as you're thinking, make one! There's a link to directions for a paper mach! one on post 1 on page 1. It'll be interesting to see how you do. All the best!

Thanks Sue! I'm with the co-op bank and don't have a branch near me so had to pay it all into the post office. Hi Newbie here, have been reading the posts on MSE from some time and have decided its about time is stop dreaming and get saving. This seems like the ideal challenge to get me started. 2011 is going to be the year of saving for me :rotfl:
Aiming for a target of £500 to get me started
Good luck everyoneDebts: Vanquis Card £2163.96, Capital One Visa £706.96, Capital One Master Card £935.54, Blackorse Loan £1174.11, Advantage Finance Car Loan £2089.80 Overdraft £2500 Grand Total £9570.370 -
Hi its Flat Eric. Last year I was sealed pot member 616 and I had a aim of saving £500. I am afraid to say that despite a good start including raiding my OH's wallet frequently ! it all went a bit pear shaped when I was very overdrawn one month and had to raid my sealed pot to see me through the month. I never really got back into saving properly so I won't be opening my pot this year.
I would like to join in for Challenge Number 4 though if that would be ok ? Do we keep the same number? I would like to stick with my £500 aim so that time next year, I can give my OH £250 to spend on whatever he likes and I can have £250 to buy something nice for myself, perhaps a new winter coat (rather than make do with one I bought back in 2002 and never really wore! so it still looks quite new!)
I started a couple of weeks ago - I empty my purse every Sunday evening - I am only saving silver in my sealed pot and I am also saving £2 coins in my coin counter money pot - but with this, when i get £20, I bank it and use it towards reducing my credit card debt. I keep a note and then when my credit card debt is paid off, I will pay myself back. This will mean I will pay off my credit card debt quicker and then can pay myself back when I would otherwise be paying my credit card but of course there will be no interest or payment protection to be paid !
Looking forward to saving lots of coins and finding lots of road kill. :j0
