URGENT help please - CAR Written OFF :(

You know what!

I got the Cheque in this morning's post already! (Total Value minus the £250 excess).

I got the car back from Garage (insurer recommended) unrepaired.

I then called the Insurance Company to find out if I can still drive the car. Could not get through to my Total LOSS agent (nice name!!) so contacted Customer Services, they are saying my insurance is valid and that I can still drive my CAR.

I am NOW TOTALLY CONFUSED.

I got my car back, got some money, not paid any salvage and still use my car???

Do I continue to try the TOTAL LOSS agent or just tight with the payout???

Please advise.

Total loss is a fairly lengthy process to deal with from a claims/ back office perspective what with having to load the loss to MIAFTR, do HPI checks, notify the DVLA etc etc and as claims and sales are almost always different departments using very different programs/ parts of a mainframe it can take "a while" for the sales side to do the necessary.

Given that driving without insurance can end up with you being in jail I personally would want a more definative answer on the is the car still insured to drive.

As to the money... you could claim ignorance on the fact that the salvage hasnt been deducted but make sure that you have the funds readily available to pay them back within a couple of days incase they spot it.
