we have a slimline 7FT tree and it has 300 on - the right amount, anymore and it would be overkill

What do people go for? LED or "proper bulbs"? I have heard people say that LEDs have to be directly facing out or they don't appear very bright, (i.e. you have to be at the correct angle to see their full brightness). Is that right?
If I'm over the hill, where was the top?

Wow! Thanks for the advice, guys - it's very much appreciated.

Who knew it would be so complicated to buy tree lights lol.

I was wondering about LED light too, emiff - the ones I have now are the traditional fairy lights but I'm going for LED as the fairy lights seem to be being phased out now :( I'd be interested to know the answer to your question too

I bought a rather expensive set of LED's a few years ago from Homebase, now most of them are not working, they are non-replaceable bulbs. The other sets I have had for years are still going strong - today the LED's are going in the bin as what is the point if only 1/4 of them are no longer working. Has put me off LED's, that is for sure.

I've got 300 rice bulbs on our tree (they were white from around 9 years ago, I wanted blue which 9 years ago were very expensive, so I painstakingly painted them all blue with glass paint, LOL) and we have a tree with built in lights but the puppy has chewed something and half them are not working.

I love lights, the more the merrier.

we have super bite led ones. premier brand i think. they are super. a really nice blue. quite bright. there is 7 or 8 diff setting's. from fading, twinking, random, satic etc. think they were about £20 per 100 or 200.

I paid £10.00 (half price) for a set of 300 white 'normal' lights from Tesco on Monday.

We have the warm white lights, they are micro lights and we bought them from Hooties. Think they were either £9.99 or £14.99 for 300.
