DX delivery

Was expecting a package today to be delivered by DX between 9-1. Waited in but it didn't arrive.
I've just phoned them and they say that the weather in all of Greater London is too bad to make any deliveries and they should have emailed me or telephoned to let me know but as so many people are affected by non delivery they admit they haven't been able to contact us all.
Fair enough, so I ask whether I can go and collect and they say no as they do not have collection points and cannot tell me exactly when my next delivery slot might be. They think it might be Friday so can i please ensure I am in all day. I explain that I am now working so will not be in the house during the day and they basically said but you need to be there for the next few days in case we try and deliver.
I asked what will happen if i am not in when they call, and they are not entirely sure as they usually expect people to be there , even though they cannot tell me even what day it will be.
I love couriers and this just reminds me why I usually go out of my way to avoid shops and sellers that use them. At least with Royal mail if i am not in they take it back to the depot and I can go and collect it at my leisure, I've never been told I have to sit and wait for an unspecified number of days until they decide the weather conditions allow them to restart deliveries.
