We have tmpp insurance on our mortgage with the Halifax and as well as life cover and critical illness cover there was also employment cover for me although I was self employed at the time and throughout. I have been told that because I was self employed the insurance cover was useless. Is this true and if so would I be able to claim any of it back. I would be grateful if anyone out there has any advice on this.

No it is not true. The life and CI part has no relevance to employment status. The MPPI part includes cover for self employed. Some loan and credit card PPIs dont include self employed but virtually all MPPI plans do.would I be able to claim any of it back.
