    Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

£1k for a ring is plenty I think!! Unless you have expensive taste. Add your Tesco clubcards to it and you'll get a hoooge rock!

What if your dad says 'I'm not letting my little princess marry a (insert expletive) like you!'.

I'm sure he won't - that was a very poor joke!
If you have nothing constructive to say just move along.

Thanks guys! I'm pretty sure my Dad won't throw a fit! I know its pretty old fashioned but we are both traditionalist! As we both work in family business' that once we're married will probably begin to amalgamate (very slowly and all done above board, protecting assets etc) we feel its really important that we involve both sets of parents properly.

We want to get married in June, do you think 6 months is long enough to organise a wedding? I've got a feeling the next 6 months are going to be pretty insane. We both want a really traditional do in my local church with a marquee on the farm after. (I know the o/h is going to have some horrific ideas about arriving at the church on a tractor or somesuch!!)

We're going to tell the parents on Sunday after he's asked my Dad - I just can't wait to begin telling everyone! I'm going to move in with him over the weekend too so I'm really looking forwards to that. It feels like life is just stepping up a gear now! (Not that I've been waiting for this for AT LEAST 6 months!!!)
  • Congratulations and it's great that you have already started coming up with ideas! Congratulations about moving in together too, sounds great!

6 months should be plenty of time to organise a wedding if you're organised enough, but make sure you have the venues booked and the deposits paid ASAP, just for peace of mind. The church we are getting married at has turned out to be a lot more popular than I thought and it was just blind luck that we wanted the one Saturday in July that was free! So just to make sure that you get your first choice of venue, do it ASAP, Sunday is a good day to go talk to them ;)

Thanks Katerin. Hopefully the church bit should be ok - my Mum is the church treasurer and they had 3 weddings in 2010 - Mum got really excited because wedding are really lucrative for the church and apparently it was the most they've had in ages! There will beb one problem looming on the horizon, I'm not a major fan of the vicar! Her services can be horrific so I'm a little worried what she might come out with!

I can't wait to tell my Mum on Sunday so I can really start planning the day! The o/h doesn't get excited about the day, I think if it was up to him he wouldn't have it (he HATES being center of attention!)

I'm getting married in June - I would say that the most important thing to sort (after venue!) is your dress. When i went dress shopping recently i was told by a couple of shops that i'd left it too late and I'd be lucky to get the dress. I'm getting mine made by a friend now, but beware.

    Anyway, more importantly... Congratulations!!!!!!!!
