My gas boiler costs me a fortune in electric!

1st thing. does the boiler have electonic ingnition or a flame. Electronic ignition uses much less electricity. If you have a constant flame the fan has to keep changing the air even when not in use.
Also the boilers with a fame are far less effient.
That could be 3p hour easily

3p an hour of electricity, at about 10p per kilowatt hour, corresponds to a consumption of about 300watts. Your gas boiler is unlikely to use this amount, even when switched on. The air fan and water pump will be the main users. Controls, spark ignition, etc., consume hardly anything.

As you have quoted the use in pence, does this mean you had to feed in a cost per kWh of electricity. If so , have you fed in a price in pence, when it needs a price in pounds, and so is a factor of 100 too high? Does it show the consumption in kW, or watts, and if so, what is this reading when the boiler is off?

I think that you have to check your gas monitor where you have to purchased that because gas monitor do not use power when the CH and HW are off your gas monitor are giving so much unit as compared to normal gas monitors.
