The police do not issue penalties or penalty points, only a court can do that under present legislation.

The OP was stating that Strathclyde Police would be issuing fines, and I am arguing that is a bad move as I think only the courts should have that power.

so they already have the powers.probably poor word choice by the OP given it would be fixed penalties they would be handing out

An old curtain will do the trick too, I read somewhere that Canadians throw snow ONTO their cars as it stops them freezing up, then they just brush it off in the morning and no ice, acts like a blanket for the car...

it sounds wacky, but I'd not argus with a Canadian when it comes to living through snowy conditions.:)

They (police) were stopping and warning folk of this in Aberdeen last week. It happened to my boss and he put a note out to all staff to ensure we clear all snow off bonnets/roofs.

Sensible I would have already thought but there you go, not everyone is sensible I guess..... lol
