BT -I've given up

To cut a long story short, I have two on-line orders, both of which got cancelled, then one over the phone which was checked very, very carefully by a helpful person at BT (they do exist) as well as two supervisors.... and that got cancelled as well! They put another one in place (as a favour it would seem) but I've decided I don't need a phone line from them after all, so I've cancelled that.
I can hardly believe the complete incompetence and just got to the stage where I do not want them to have my money. Reading this board it seems I'm not alone?
I'm in a rented flat for 6 months as I'm working away from home for awhile. Still have a BT line at home, and had originally asked if the two could be linked together and was categorically told 'no'. But, they do now seem to have linked the two lines together after all, and I'm half expecting continued problems from my cancellation for the other line. But surely they can't do that. After all, I've not left my husband, but I could very well have done so for all they know, so how can they then tie them together?
In the meantime I've got a mobile, and mobile broadband. Simple solution in the end which basically WORKS!

"Linked together!?
What's that all about?Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
