Hmm, I hope HSBC are as nice to me.
Only slightly related point, but I hope it's related enough to be relevant;
I had to make a emergency purchase yesterday morning.
This took me just below zero, about 15/20 quid into my authorised O/D.Boo.
I then spent the day at work, & when I got home that night (after 5.30pm), I logged onto IB & like Loughton, transferred enough cash over from an instant saver to put me back into the positive again.
Fair play to NatWest too, the site said it would be paid on the 13th (monday) but it was still immediate, even at stupid o'clock on Friday night.
Now, I know that this is technically a full banking day's time I was overdrawn, but it took me *months* to get back into a stable position & the obsessive-compulsive part of me hates the idea of like -2p showing up as debit interest next month - gah! Another month in my O/D.
I do as a rule leave a buffer for these circumstances, however this purchase was a bit bigger than I anticipated (plus I could only stop at Halfrauds which never helps..).
Anyway, no particular moral to the story - Just though I'd share.
I'll keep an eye on my IB & if this thread is still alive by the time I find out (unlikely I know) I'll update as to whether I got away with it or not..0 -
Natwest & RBS now offer Act Now Alerts;

Providing you pay cleared funds into the account by 14.30 on the day the item is debited you wont get charged. However on the text/email you receive it states the funds are required by 12.00 noon but really its 14.30
If the item is debited on a Saturday dated for Monday you will have until Monday 14.30 to pay the cleared funds into the account.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
Thanks - Ah, by that rationale I wouldn't got away with it then.
Suppose I just have to hope HSBC are a bit lax on Fridays..
I don't think it'd be more than a couple of pence anyway, but it's just annoying, you know?0
