Switching penalty after price increase?

A few mnths ago, I switched to Scottish Power. The contract states that if I leave them before this coming March, I must pay a penalty.

However, they didn't tell me when I signed up that they were going to increase their prices. I understand that I can refuse the price increase and take my business elsewhere, but if I do so do I still have to pay the penalty?

Thanks for any guidance on this.

Yes, you have to pay the penalty. It is the increase in price you are rejecting - the end date of the variable tariff remains the same. Early escape penalty still applies.

And what do you mean "they didn't tell you" when you signed up? They would have declared it was a variable tariff.

Oh come on this a very mild put down. I'm truly disappointed. :(
Can't you put in some harder hitting words, like idiot, wassock or numptie to get the message across not to ask silly questions. :o

The one fired at the 60 year old frozen woman thread was much better, but it got swamped by all those people with humanity. (and subsequently deleted ).
