Am I entitled to mobility component of DLA

I am thinking about making a claim for DLA (mobility component) because I sometimes can barely walk around the house, let alone walk outside.
Without flareups however, I can sometimes walk up to a half a mile.
How bad do you have to be and how often does there need to be flareups before you are entitled to DLA?
I am really worried about claiming and then someone from the DWP jumping out with a video camera on one of my good days.

What is your condition? How often do you have flare ups?
    Gone ... or have I?
  • I have flare ups at lease once a week when I just do not go out in case I cannot get back home.

To get DLA, you would need (on average) to have these problems for at least 4-5 days a week. How long have you had these walking problems for?

I have had walking problems for a number of years now but they are getting worse.
I will not bother even applying as I am nowhere near that.
Thanks anyway to both of you for taking the trouble to reply.
  • Alison, go and see the benefit specialist at your local CAB, they may be able to help with interpreting the form and regulations and will certainly help with filling up the form.

  • Thanks for this sewsosew. I may do that.
However, given I only have flare ups once or twice a week then I do not hold out much hope if it has to be more than that.
I really worry about getting videoed on my good days, and I think if I was worrying about this all the time I may make myself even worse.
