Housing benefit moving overlap?

If someone on housing benefit moves can they move into the new place a little before they move out of old one?

Can they get paid for both places for a short overlap?

It's certainly not impossible, but it is very difficult to get paid HB on two properties.

to get HB on two homes, if you want to geton the new home before you have moved it has to be because you are waiting for it to be adapted to meet the disablement needs of a member of the household.

you can up to four weeks on your old home after you have moved into the new home, but only if the ongoing liability was unavoidable. not through choice. usually this only applies when someone in a private rental, which requires notice, gets offered social housing which often has to be accepted and signed up to there and then.
