Need to switch tariff - advice please

Hi Folks
I'm after a bit of advice please :0)
I'm on British Gas standard tariff at the moment  and I need to change!
Its my own fault because I was on the fixed priced until 2010 and when we were comimg out of it I didn't go onto the tariff they were offering (I can't remember what it was) and asked to go onto the standard tariff until I worked out which one I wanted to go onto.
The problem is I still haven't moved onto another trariff
I don't really want to switch supplier as I get discount on the other services I have with British Gas but they have so many tariffs I don't know which one to change too?
I don't have my usage to hand at the moment (I'm at work) but we live in a large-ish 4 bed detached house, my husband works at home and would say we are high users.
We have a cheaper night time rate but not sure if this is economy 7?
Any advice to which one to switch too will be appreciated
Thanks CC.

Hi CostCutter - Not enough info. I'm afraid
Please confirm whether or not you have an ECO7 meter, what sort of heating you have and your annual consumption in Kwh ( BG will tell you what this is if you phone and ask )0 -
Are you talking about gas, electricity, or dual fuel? Since you are on the single most expensive (standard) tariff, any switch is going to save you money, so get your annual kWh consumption figs and pick your best tariff from a comparison site. The cheapest BG tariff will be one of the online discount ones, but check the results for your area and consumption.
If you have a cheap night rate, then yes, you are on E7, so I assume you heat your house with storage heaters? If you are on E7 and you don't heat with storage heaters, then you are probably wasting a lot of money, as you are paying a peak rate for all your non-E7 consumption. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Thanks guys....ok I have called British Gas
My energy consumption for the last year is:
Gas: 30724.8 kWh
Electric: 4593 kWh
I have gas central heating. I didn't realise I could switch to a single tariff rate, I thought as we had that meter we had to stay with that ...doh!
Thanks CC0 -

Oh dear...Most utility co's will simply combine the two meter readings together-you don't need a new meter necessarily. And even if you did and let's say (worst case) it cost you £50, you would soon make that back from what you're paying on an E7 tariff where almost all your usage is peak rate.No free lunch, and no free laptop

Hi Cost Cutter
Are the discounts you get from BG worth it and what are they. British Gas are one the the dearest, your consumption looks on the high side, what type of house is it? if you move companies you will probably save a heap of money.
Your rate will also depend where in the country you are?0
