Car insurance -mistakes on policy

Got insurance forms today after purchasing on weekend. Full of mistakes. Second time they have made mistakes- they also sent a quote summary full of errors. Me thinks they may be doing it on purpose. Anyway need to phone them to sort it out. Should I record the call?
Also they have assumed we are a common law couple. We did not tell them this. What difference might it make to the policy to tell them we are not cohabiting?

Probably easier to annotate the paper work & post a photocopy to them0

You can record the call but insurance companies are supposed to record all calls anyway so they should be able to retrieve the call if needs be.
Commonlaw generally means that you live together as man and wife but arent married rather than you being a pair of people that live at the same address but are not in a relationship (ie friends, siblings etc). Many insurers give partners named on the policy the same discounts as wedded/ civil parntershipped couples.
You could send a letter in but personally I would do it over the phone as this is the very idea of using direct insurers rather than the traditional broker who you had to go down the road to visit or send letters to.All posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

Or 'lose' the recording if they so desire too.0 -
Well Ive read countless stories of insurers being very happy to accept whatever you tell them when it comes to paying them but when you make a claim they are looking for a way out of paying. So any little misyake made could void your insurance and make any claims invalid- the reason for wanting to make mistakes. I find it very hard to believe they could consistantly make so many mistakes- aout 40% of the details were wrong even after we phoned them to correct the details once already.
Really shabby service. Had to phone twice today to get sensible answers to our questions. Didnt record it - tried to use rectel but the serivce told the call was to expesive and cut me off!!0 -
