TV Dongle Please Explain

Pricedrop TV has these dongles which you plug into your PC or laptop and you can access loads of overseas television channels. Do I need to plug in my wireless adaptor AND the dongle at the same time? Also will using it have a massive impact on my download limits? They keep selling these on Pricedrop, or it might be Bid TV, I can't remember, but they never explain the technicalities. If you folks can help I'd be very grateful.

Have a look at some of the Amazon customer reviews. The enthusiasm might be described as "mixed"...0

Hi.
Have you had look at BBC IPlayer, SeeSaw and TVCatchup. I don't think there's an abundance of overseas channels though. For Freeview and ordinary TV channels however it's easy viewing for laptops and PCs.
If you stick a VGA cable into the back of your laptop and your TV, if its a modern one, you can watch your channels on the bigger screen.
The quality of the pictures are not to bad and the majority of the channels are free to view.
Hope this helps. Regards Allen.0 -
You could always try using some software like pplive. I'm not sure about the legality of these sorts of things though.0

Hi Allen, I'm a big fan of TVcatchup, it's brilliant. I occasionally use BBC Iplayer but am not familiar with SeeSaw so I will check that one out. I already use my bedroom TV as the computer monitor so I can flip between working and watching Freeview. I was really interested in watching telly in other countries like Australia just to see whether it was better than ours. Also my daughter's boyfriend could watch football matches in other countries.
And Scouselander, I've not heard of pplive either. I get the impression it's not strictly kosher from what you're saying but I will have a look for it. Thanks.
Many thanks for all your suggestions folks.0 -
