not fridge - could affect the centres. As long as they are not somewhere warm enough to melt them then they should be fine

Does chocolate actually go off that quickly? I mean in a few days rather than years? I can see if it had fresh cream centres or something, yes, but otherwise if it's kept in a cool dry place in a sealed container it should last for several months I would have thought.
    Val.
  • I'd wager that they would keep for years somewhere cool and dry. Even heat only causes them to have a bloom but doesn't affect the taste. It's the perfect food really!

I've got a box of chocolate biscuits in the filing cabinet at work (don't ask!) that's been there since the summer. It was two boxes of choc biccies till last week, when the occasion to get one box out arose. They were fine - and I expect the other box will be too. Might test them myself next week if these grey days carry on...

What is all this about storing chocolate? Don't you know its freezing outside?!!!! Eat them all - then clear your neighbours path of snow to burn off the calories!! Plus you get that feel good factor too.
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

Chocolates keep very well in a plastic box in the freezer too. (Preferably in the garage freezer where it's such a fag to go outside and get them that the temptation to scoff the lot is a little easier to resist). I find they also last longer when they're frozen as they gently warm in your mouth.
