Today’s idea is Popcorn Comedy in the Komedia’s most intimate venue, the Studio Bar. Popcorn Comedy has floated down to Brighton on the winds of The Big Smoke where its creators wanted to combine two familiar concepts to create a truly unique evening and it has to be said they most certainly have managed that.
A desire to bring to the fore the endless talents of young British comedy filmmakers and display their works outside of the usual closed circle in which they usually remain, is what has driven this project from the beginning.
Popcorn Comedy hand picks some of the finest short films and combines them with great live stand-up acts to provide a fast paced, laugh out loud show that will keep you on your toes. Be warned! Some films are not for the faint of heart and you never know what is coming up next, from the sublime to the ridiculous there is never a dull moment at a Popcorn Comedy night.
Past live acts have included established favourites such as Graham Linehan, Adam Buxton, Peter Serafinowicz and even David Cross, as well as bright young things such as Brighton’s Jo Neary, Tommy and the Weeks, and Cardinal Burns.
This month will feature Ireland’s 7th best rap act ‘Abandoman (“Flight of the Conchords meets 8 Mile” “Nothing short of genius.” Chortle.co.uk) an improv duo whose talents are quite astonishing, as well as the surreal writer and comedian Dan Evans (“Original and Inventive” The Times)
Tickets can be purchased in advance until 7pm on the day for a reduced price of £5 from http://popcornbrighton.eventbrite.com, whilst you will pay a still wholly reasonable price of £7 on the door.

Tonight, if you’d like to win free entry for you and a friend, send us an email to boredofbrighton@gmail.com or leave us a comment below with your name and a little note saying you’d like to win. We’ll be announcing the winner this afternoon

Bored of Brighton recommends Popcorn for those who fancy a great unique night out to kill off those mid week winter blues in lovely venue with a relaxed atmosphere.
