What's the point in struggling to be 'perfect'? Nobody is perfect.
You're right, nobody will ever be perfect, thank you for the thought. Yet, without being perfect, wouldn't it be good to love better? Isn't indifference uncaring? Is ambivalence not a close companion of neglect? Acknowledging our flaws is a good starting place for loving well.0 -

Do you struggle to get the message?
Why is it necessary to 'love well' or 'love better'? Why not just be average? There's alot of it about. If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -

You could answer that by asking, for those I love, do I love them enough to want to love them better?0 -

You could answer the 'do you struggle to get the message' question?
Do you like ramming your evangelical views down people's throats? Why exactly do you like to ram your evangelical views down people's throats? Is it because you have no life of your own?
You want people to beg you to show them the way, and when you meet someone who doesn't need your assistance or viewpoint you try to belittle them and insult them.If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -

Okay - given that no-one is perfect.
We are all at varying levels of distance away from "perfection". But - we should strive for perfection - after all - that's what we are here for.
Life is a "school". We skip classes, get "could do better" reports, etc - exactly the same as in schools as children. But we are "children" basically - and its up to us to try and learn the lessons we are "set to learn" and hope to "graduate with honours" at the end of it. Hopefully - we will at least "graduate with a Pass mark" and not have to be too angry with ourselves for skiving off/bumming around/etc at those times when we felt too lazy and/or depressed to make the effort.0 -

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:- right...I've obviously not got the dryest sense of humour on MSE then....beaten me on that score.
Mind you - I HAVE heard a few people say this and they were serious......0 -

Please forgive me, I am sorry, my purpose was not to impose. I will take care to avoid insults. Could we not still reason together?0 -
There is no room for negativity and melancholy. Such thoughts only ultimately drag you down and make you feel worse so sing out now..!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uj8C43r4zm0Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -

That may be difficult, the new path may be narrower and difficult to navigate but better that than heading of into oblivion, loneliness and a broken heart.
Unfortunately, the path can get blocked behind you, preventing you from being able to go back. Not everything can be corrected. Sometimes you have to just deal with things as best as you can, and strive to be better.EeViL_WeEvil wrote: »I think there is a fine line between criticising yourself gently and moving on from flaws, and being overly critical and becoming low on confidence as a result. Small changes are best I find.
Just start with one individual person or habit you are unhappy with and concentrate on that. You'll feel like you have achieved much more than if you target 20 things you would like to do and only achieve 3/20, which seems more like failure.
One positive step can take you much further than you would think!
Don't concentrate on criticising yourself, but pick one thing you believe you could be better and - use this as a building block.
Very good advice. Being overly critical with yourself (or others) can be extremely damaging, resulting in you struggling not to drown in a sea of negativity. Unless you have suffered from low confidence/esteem, you cannot understand how destroying that can be. Do whatever you can to avoid it.Okay - given that no-one is perfect.

Agree. Yep, 'must try harder'. No point in wallowing over the bits we got wrong. We can't fix them now. Just keep trying. The hare and the tortoise springs to mind for some reason. Be determined, and keep plodding on, and we might just get there before some of those that seem so much better: not that it's a race, of course0
