i did take advice prior to the case

i was told by the CRB they haven't got a case no agreement was made neither written or verbal i had a one off free 1 hour with a solicitor they said the same thing

    i couldn't afford legal advice a

im not ranting i just feel like people have this judgement that well you have a website pay it end of

and its not i paid for a service i haven't got it so why this black and white image of you have a website pay for it

if he then said to you pay me another £250 and i will paint it yellow would you?

even though you agreed £250 to paint it yellow to begin with

What exactly did the judgment say that were you paying for? The work done to date, or a complete website?

Did the claimant state that he had produced a live website for you, or that he had done x work towards the website?

well not really as i say the whole case was more centred on did i have to pay for it or not.

i stated no written contract no verbal agreement and he was a friend

he stated there was a verbal agreement and as he had done the work that i had to pay for it even though he was supposed to be a friend and was doing it as a favour

the judge said he could see that the work had been done but i had over 200 emails back and forth saying do this add this add this stock take this picture out add this text etc.

yet the website does none of that as i say i cant even use it as they are screenshots on paper

the only way i can describe it to make it easy is

i have been told i have to pay
i completely disagree but there you go and will have to pay

but surely if i have to pay for the service then surely i should have it as described and working/live

Although the case centred on whether you had to pay, you had to be paying for something. It sounds to me like you were paying for the work done to date and nothing more, but I couldn't say for sure without seeing the initial claim. It would be very unusual for a court to rule on something in the future.

Sorry, but I really think that you are chasing a loss by getting him to do anymore work or by trying to avoid paying. Do you know anyone who could take his work to date and turn it into a live site, so at least you can start receiving an income from it?
